Dan & Matt Wilson in the City Pages

Dan & Matt Wilson Concert Preview in City Pages, January 29, 2013

My brother Matt and I talked with the City Pages about our upcoming shows at the Bryant Lake Bowl and Pantages Theatre. Read about our love for the Twin Cities, our admiration for Prince’s selling tickets to his drummer audition, and of the complexities of having siblings in a band.

  1. wish i could be there. you are both inspiring to me.

  2. After the Newtown shooting in December, My 12 yr old son, being inspired by the incident, composed a song that I then put lyrics to. The song is called ‘Together Now Together We Are’ and it’s an uplifting tribute designed to be used to raise awareness of gun violence against children. All proceeds from any sales of the song would go to Sandy Hook Promise, a new organization founded by parents of some of the victims, to help get out their message about gun violence. I am not anti-gun, just anti-killing people with them, if you know what I mean. We’re recording the song in Frazer, PA on February 24, 2013 beginning at 11:00 am, using professional studio musicians from the area. We’re using the recording session to also provide young musicians the opportunity of learning how to record and mix a song. My son and I believe your voice is the perfect match for his song and therefore we would like to know if you would consider listening to a rough demo with my singing (laughing is permitted, as I am no singer) the melody. At that point, if you would be interested, we would be honored if you would participate in the recording and teaching planned for the 24th. The garage band demo was done entirely by my son in our basement. Most of the studio time will be donated but I may have to pay some of the musicians for their time. If you would want or require payment for your time, travel etc. I understand and would need to know how much so I can see if I can work that out or not. Thank you for your consideration. By the way, my son loves “I Wish” and we are are both stupefied as to why that song was not a huge hit. Oh well, thanks again for your time.

  3. Fantastic show could have watched you all night. So dynamic. I am with the audience…would love to hear The Slacks again, but it wouldn’t be right with out the dance.

  4. Loved the show! Thought that CD would be out like one in 2010. Is there one coming? Hope so.
